Points or Cash Back Credit Card Rewards: Which One Best For You?

Credit card rewards are one way that credit card companies entice people to sign up to use their credit cards. There are some great rewards offered, free trips, discounts on purchases and cash back. It is important to realize that credit card companies are in the business of making money and not in the business to help the customer. They do not offer the rewards and plan on losing money on them. If you do not pay off your card in full each month, the rewards are not worth having a credit card.

Credit card rewards are bonuses that you receive as you use your card. In general, the more you use the card the more points or rewards you get from the company. Many people prefer these types of reward credit cards, because they are easier to manage and it is easier to understand the mathematics involved in how the cash back program works.

Another thing to consider is the annual fee that you are charged for having a credit card. There are so many competing credit card companies, that you should consider switching to a card without a fee. There is no need to pay a fee on a credit card at anytime. If you are faithful in paying off your balance in full each month, then cash back or a rewards credit card may be worth the extra money that you earn. Some people earn up to three or four hundred dollars a year on their cards.

Today’s card holders can enjoy free sky miles, hotel and travel points, cash back for purchases, gas, even money contributed to an IRA or transferred to a interest accruing savings account. Find the best reward credit cards for your individual situation by considering the benefits and features of each. Compare all credit card rewards programs to get your just rewards.

A great suggestion if you are looking for a point system rewards program is to check with the airline that you fly on frequently. They may have an affiliated credit card which you can apply for. Remember that some point systems may have a redemption fee tied into their point system. It is extremely important to note that redemption points, or cash back awards are only really effective, and valued if you are a person that pays off their credit card balance every month. If you carry over a balance then the interest rate will eat up your rewards, no matter which plan you choose. Be sure to check to see if the credit card has a reward cap in place. Some credit card companies will limit the amount you can benefit in points or air miles.
